Travertine
Travertine Tiles are used for walls and floors and comes in different colors and textures such as Honed & Filled, Brushed, Tumbled and Polished. Most popular colors are Classic, Exclusive and Cappuccino. What do the colosseum in Rome and the Getty center in Los Angeles have in common? The aesthetic finish of both relies on Travertine, Limestone’s Italian cousin. Also known as Travertine Marble, this material is formed in the hot springs of Tuscan. Water percolates through limestone, releasing carbon dioxide gas like a carbonated drink and creating numerous cavities in the rock. The mottled, veined result is a popular and beautiful building and flooring material. Because it is pitted with holes it requires careful preparation and cleaning. A cleat epoxy resin may be applied to create a smooth surface that is easier to maintain.
